Mission Statement

The Office of the Clerk of the Court is committed to providing Quality customer service, ensuring the integrity and access to court records by supporting the Judicial process through efficient Records Management, Financial Administration and Jury Service. 


Duties

The Clerk of Court's office provides administrative support services for Marion County Circuit Court including record keeping for all court cases, collecting money on court ordered obligations, and managing the court's jury system. We also assist the public in accessing the courts and its records. As representatives of the judicial system, the Clerk of Court's staff treat those we help and serve with dignity, fairness and sensitivity.
The Clerk of Court's office is statutorily mandated to provide record keeping and collect all fees, fines, and forfeitures for the judicial system. The office is headed by the Clerk of Court, a county elected position. 

Functions

The Clerk of Court's (Circuit and Family Court) purpose is to provide all the services of the judicial system to the general public. Our goal is to ensure that our services are rendered in a timely and efficient manner. These are but not limited to the duties our office offers to you:
  • summonsing of jurors for civil and criminal court
  • filing of civil and family court documents
  • processing arrest warrants
  • public defender applications
  • notary public registration
  • filing of bondsman license
  • collection and disbursement of child support and alimony
  • collection of general sessions fines and court costs
  • custodian of civil, criminal, and family court documents
  • preparation and maintenance of civil and family court docket
Register Of Deeds:
The Register of Deeds consists of two clerks. The responsibilities of the ROD office are to record, index, image, and return documents. Among the documents recorded are as follows: deeds, mortgages (any instruments pertaining to the mortgage), financing statements, tax liens (state and federal), conveyance liens, plats and powers of attorney. 
If you are in need of copies please see the copy request form under the table of contents listed on the left hand side of the page.  There is a $5.00 per document copy fee.  We DO NOT accept personal checks.  Accepted forms of payment are: cash, money order, cashiers check or business checks made payable to Marion County Clerk of Court.  PLEASE BE SURE TO INCLUDE A SELF ADDRESSED STAMPED ENVELOPE FOR PROMPT RETURN OF YOUR REQUEST.
