General Statement of Duties

Under general supervision performs a variety of activities pertaining to the County Jail in accordance with established policies, regulations and procedures. Minimum Qualifications

High school education with successful completion of required training from the Criminal Justice Academy as required: or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must be available to work every Sunday during Prison Camp visitation hours and be on the On-Call status Monday - Saturday.

General Statement of Duties

The purpose of the class is to perform a variety of complex administrative, supervisory and technical public safety work in planning, coordinating and directing the County’s E-911 communications functions, and to perform related work as required. This class researches and formulates long-range goals for the organization, develops policy and position papers, and negotiates with chief administrative officers and/or elected officials.

Minimum Qualifications

Requires Associate’s degree, vocational technical degree or specialized training that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college education with emphasis in emergency communications, telecommunications or a closely related field. Must possess NCIC certification, E-911 certification, Weather Watch and NIMS certifications. Must possess a valid state driver’s license.

Animal Shelter Director

Department: Marion County Animal Shelter

Responsible for the management of the County’s animal shelter operations, including but not limited to ensuring that the shelter meets all local and state standards with regard to housing; supervising animal shelter staff; preparing and maintaining records and reports; developing and overseeing volunteers; adoptions and other public education programs. Applicants must have knowledge of the principles and practices of managing an animal shelter with preference given to candidates with knowledge of veterinary best practices. Must be able to deal tactfully with the general public, cooperate effectively with other agencies, including law enforcement, and effectively manage staff and volunteers. Applicant shall have a High School diploma with practical training or experience in a veterinary or animal facility setting or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have excellent animal handling skills, be familiar with veterinary terminology, and be able to conduct simple diagnostic procedures. Must be willing and able to obtain additional training as required by the County Administrator in the operation of the animal shelter. Must possess a valid S. C. Driver’s License and submit to pre-employment drug testing.

Paramedic

Department: Emergency Medical Services

General Statement of Duties

Under limited supervision performs various activities necessary in administering first aid to and transporting sick/injured persons to medical facilities. Coordinating with other response agencies, exercises responsibility for patients at scene and during transport. Performs operational duties as maintaining machinery and equipment, completing various forms and documents, general cleaning task, etc. Reports to Director of Emergency Services.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum training and experience includes high school diploma, applicants must have a valid SC Paramedic certification or qualify for recipocity, BLS, ACLS, and PALS, provide certifications and be able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form. Must have a valid S.C. driver’s license, have no criminal record, be at least twenty-one years of age and submit to pre-employment.
