Applications are being accepted for a DEPUTY position in the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.

 

General Statement of Job:      Under general supervision exercises responsibilities for the enforcement of state and local laws relating to public safety and welfare.  Exercises independent judgment in dealing with dangerous or unusual situations, exercising safety practices and procedures.  Works under stressful, high-risk conditions.  Reports to assigned Corporal or Sergeant.

 

Minimum Training and Experience:    High school diploma or equivalent, completion of the Criminal Justice Academy, and one to three years of experience in law enforcement; or any equivalent combination of experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Must have possession of a S.C. driver’s license.  Must be able to maintain level proficiency in the use of firearms, and evasive action/driving skills and pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Marion County is accepting applications for the position of Part Time Dispatcher in the Central Communications Department.

 

Under occasional supervision, must be mentally and physically capable of receiving calls on 911 and non-emergency lines; obtains, assesses and dispatches information to law enforcement, fire, and EMS agencies.  Maintains accurate and up-to-date computer records and logs.  Reports to the shift Corporals and the Communications Supervisor.

 

Minimum Training and Experience:  Requires a high school diploma and NCIC and E-911 certification, or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must submit to pre-employment drug screening.
